This was a busy week for me. I had some school work to do (surprise surprise), a career fair to attend, a new training supplement to use, and an unquenchable thirst for Dynasty Warriors 6.
One of the biggest surprises was logging on to here and finding that I got an amazing 51 hits on Tuesday. This was following the Prison Break season finale which I talked about in an entry on Monday. Apparently this page is one of the first links in Google when you search for any combination of the words “sara” “prison break” “still” and “alive”. I hope everyone else can see through the shroud Prison Break puts up and realizes that Sara’s death did not fit the character of the show.
A close second to this news was the surprise that came when my brokerage portfolio got to a net positive. Since Etrade includes the trading fees into the portfolio’s performance this means that my stocks made it to the point where they made enough money to cover the trade fees. Woohoo. Yesterday was a different story and there was a huge loss across the board. Today there was a last minute rally (as I predicted to Raymond in the morning) and I am again close to net parity.
I am going to wait until Sunday to write a preliminary review of NO Shotgun and the included DVD, which I have watched. I am taking a set of pictures every week on Sunday until it runs out to track my process. DLao commented on this as “homosexual” and that he uses the “Dr. Cox Method” where he hates his body to motivate him. Even though earlier in the day he had said how excited he was to get his body mass index measured. Hater.
Onto Dynasty Warriors. So IGN gave this game a score of 5.9. Very funny. I knew what to expect from DW after playing many hours of 5 and 6 did not deviate much. There are quite a lot of differences that those not familiar with the game would miss. These include:
- Duels are back from 4. They do not take you away to an “arena”, but you hear battle drums and the soldiers form a circle around you and other officers. When you get too close the the enemy troops they will stab at you. Also these usually do not happen unless there are multiple officers with lieutenants. This makes these very difficult and if you go outside the circle or are knocked out of it the circle will collapse and you will be mocked. If you when you get a morale boost. I try to avoid these and take out any officers quickly.
- Lieutenants. If you played 5 you know how tight it was to have a lieutenant with you to help you out, especially nice was having a freezer. Now there are no lieutenants, well not for you at least. Some of the more powerful officers will have lieutenants that have regular, charge, and musou attacks and can be deadly. They don’t have much health, but usually are harder to kill then the generic officers.
- More units. Across the board there are a ton more dudes on the screen. Allies. Enemies. Everything. It is not unusual to fight against 4 or more officers with an equal number of lieutenants and a couple hundred soldiers.
- Horses are the new lieutenants. Now you can pick up saddles from boxes or officer drops. Horses level like lieutenants did in 5 and gain special abilities and elemental properties. Tons of fun running through a horde of soldiers with an ice elemental horse. Sparkle sparkle. Horses can also jump and swim.
- Specials. You can now pick up tomes from flag bearers that allow you to activate your special ability. There are a couple different abilities; fire storm, arrow storm, and speed storm (or whatever) are the ones I have seen so far. These can be gamebreakers and can turn the tide of a battle very quickly.
I have gone through Normal Musou mode with Guan Yu and Shang Xiang so far, and I am halfway done with Gan Ning. Lu Bu is still a ways off.
Done for now. More coming soon.
